Installation Time Depends on the Job
A straightforward residential replacement can often be completed in one visit after the door is on site. The full timeline includes measurement, product selection, manufacturing or delivery, removal of the existing door, installation, and testing.
Same-day installation is not realistic when the door must be ordered, the opening needs preparation, or related hardware is not available.
What Happens Before Installation Day
- Measure the opening, headroom, sideroom, and backroom
- Confirm door size, construction, insulation, windows, and finish
- Identify track, spring, and opener requirements
- Review removal, disposal, and any framing or electrical work
What Affects Time on Site
- Door size, weight, and construction
- Condition of the existing tracks, springs, and opening
- Whether the opener is being reused, repaired, or replaced
- Access around the driveway, ceiling, and work area
- Unexpected damage found after the old door is removed
After the Door Is Installed
The door should be balanced, the tracks aligned, and the opener limits and safety reversal checked before the job is complete. Controls, remotes, and accessories should be tested with the finished door, not assumed from the previous system.
