Garage Door Will Not Open
A door that will not open may have lost power, disconnected controls, a broken spring, a damaged cable, or a binding track. The opener should not be used to force a heavy or uneven door.

Common Causes
- Power loss, a tripped outlet, or disconnected opener
- Remote, keypad, wall control, or travel-limit problem
- Broken torsion or extension spring
- Snapped or displaced lift cable
- Bent track, seized roller, or damaged panel
- Manual lock still engaged
Safe Checks
- Confirm that the opener has power and the wall control is not in lock mode.
- Check whether the manual lock is engaged without pulling on cables or spring hardware.
- Look for a visible spring gap, loose cable, crooked door, or roller outside the track.
- Stop after one normal opener attempt if the door barely moves or the motor strains.

Do not pull the emergency release while the door is open, crooked, or unsupported. Do not lift a door with a broken spring or touch loose cables. These parts are under load and the door may fall.

Why does the opener run but the door stay closed?
The trolley may be disconnected, the drive system may have failed, or a broken spring may be making the door too heavy. Stop the opener if it strains or the door moves unevenly.
Can I open the door manually?
Only if the door is fully closed, stable, and the spring and cable system appears intact. A door with a broken spring can be extremely heavy. If anything looks loose, crooked, or damaged, leave it closed and call for service.
