Garage Door Opener Hums but Does Not Move
A humming opener may have a failed capacitor, gear, sprocket, trolley, or motor component. It may also be trying to lift a door made too heavy by a broken spring or binding hardware.

Common Causes

Safe Checks
- Stop after one brief attempt so the motor does not overheat.
